Indigenous land management experts international visit to North America

2008: An Australian delegation consisting of five Indigenous land management experts reciprocated with and international visit to North America (Canada and the U.S.A)in collaboration with the two Native American delegates Don Lyons and Bucko Teeple.

The delegation toured six Native American Communities to exchange knowledge on innovative Australian traditional ecological knowledge recording systems (TKRP) applied in the areas of land ma
nagement and cultural preservation. The group also delivered workshops, established forums and presented a travelling art exhibition of Australian Aboriginal art, music and film. The visit also included the delivery of keynote presentations at two universities (Michigan State University and the University of Northern Michigan). A number of international Indigenous ‘grassroots’ community partnerships were developed from this trip around traditional knowledge recording with (TKRP) between Australian and North American Indigenous communities.

2010: A second follow up trip back to North America from Australia – Funded through Seven Generations directors. The trip aimed to solidify the community linkages between Australian and North American Indigenous communities to further knowledge exchange and international networks.
